The cosmetics manufacturer Schwan-Stabilo will be cutting 200 jobs within the next 12 months due to an internal restructuring plan. Employees in administration and production at the plants in Heroldsberg and Weißenburg will be the ones most affected by the cuts. According to management, cuts are necessary to respond to the increasing price pressure and to a changing market. Altenative, measures implemented in the past to counteract these trends have been unsuccessful.
In the new course of action, Schwan-Stabilo intends to strengthen its plants in the Czech Republic, to produce more cheaply, and the United States of America, to counter potential trade barriers.
Negotiations with the works’ council will commence soon.
Currently, Schwan-Stabilo has 1,300 employees in Germany.
