Description

The Swedish daily newspaper Svenska Dagbladet (often referred to as SvD) has announced that it is to cut 50-60 jobs. About 40 of the job cuts will concern journalists, which means that more than every fifth of the 175 journalists working for the newspaper today will be dismissed. Overall, Svenska Dagbladet has approximately 280 employees.

The measure follows a decision to carry out a savings plan. It is hoped that the job cuts can be solved through voluntary dismissals. Svenska Dagbladet has introduced a proposal for severance payments, the details of which will be announced within two weeks.

As of August 2012 it is not yet known when the job reduction will be implemented.
