In August 2006, the British outsourcing company XL World announced the opening of the fourth service call center in Romania. During that period, XL World was operating in Romania with 450 employees in three centres, Iaşi, Cluj and Oradea; a new center was opened in September 2006 in Bacău (North East Region) and generated 150 new jobs. In June 2007, the company started developing a recruitment campaign for 270 call centre operators in Iasi, Bacau and Oradea. The highest number of the new staff (200) will be hired in Iasi (North-East Region). At present, the company has 800 employees in Romania, of which 400 hired last year. The turnover of the company was approximately EUR 3.5 million in 2006, an increase with 200% as comparing with 2005 level (EUR 1.2 million). According to the available data, there are a present 250 call centres in Romania with an increasing number of units of 20-30 per year; the necessary investment to open a new call centre with 400 employees is estimated at EUR 1 million.
