Public services are essential for achieving high levels of social protection, social cohesion and social inclusion. However, to be effective in this regard, services must be of good quality and they must be equally accessible to the broadest possible range of citizens. Care services in particular represent a key component of social protection for EU citizens, improving quality of life and access to education and employment. This report reveals citizens’ perceptions of quality in healthcare, long-term care and childcare, and compares them between countries, groups in society and the receivers of care and indirect service users.

Os serviços públicos são essenciais para alcançar níveis elevados de proteção social, coesão social e inclusão social. No entanto, para serem eficazes neste domínio, os serviços devem ser de boa qualidade e ser acessíveis em condição de igualdade ao maior número possível de cidadãos. Os serviços de prestação de cuidados, em especial, representam uma componente essencial da proteção social dos cidadãos da UE, melhorando a qualidade de vida e o acesso à educação e ao emprego. O presente relatório revela as perceções dos cidadãos relativamente à qualidade dos cuidados de saúde, dos cuidados de longa duração e das estruturas de acolhimento de crianças, e compara-as entre países, grupos da sociedade e recetores de cuidados e utentes indiretos dos serviços.
Eurofound's European Quality of Life Survey (EQLS) examines both the objective circumstances of European citizens' lives and how they feel about those circumstances and their lives in general. This series consists of outputs from the EQLS 2016, the fourth edition of the survey. The survey was first carried out in 2003.
