Forum of social partners - The role of social dialogue in facilitating quality jobs
This forum takes place on 31 March 2015 in Riga and is organised by the Employers’ Confederation of Latvia (LDDK) in cooperation with the Free Trade Union Confederation of Latvia (LBAS) under the auspices of the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
Objectives
The main goal is to exchange experience among the EU Member States and social partners’ organisations by promoting the transfer of best practices. The discussions will focus on the role of social dialogue in ensuring economic growth, the country’s competitiveness and the creation of quality jobs, and on strengthening social dialogue and the challenges faced in the EU. The results of the discussions will help Member States to improve social dialogue in the regions and facilitate the involvement of social partners in policy action.
Around 150 representatives from employers’ organisations and trade unions, the EU social partners’ organisations, the National Trilateral Cooperation Council and the Presidency will take part.
Eurofound contribution
Juan Menéndez Valdés, Director, will give a keynote address on Comparative Perspective on Social Dialogue in the EU Member States at 10:40, and Gijs van Houten, Research Officer, will make a presentation on Sectoral social dialogue in Europe: Presentation of survey/research results at 13:30 during Parallel session II on Sectoral social dialogue for productivity and competitiveness.
