This report outlines the current situation regarding work intensity, indicating a clear link between work intensity and poor working conditions, both physical and psychological. The analysis is based on findings from the fourth European Working Conditions Survey carried out in 31 countries, including the 27 EU Member States. The analysis reveals sharp variations between different Member States in relation to working hours and the associated gender gap, and points to the huge costs both for workers and companies arising from high work intensity.

    Condições de trabalho na União Europeia: Horários de trabalho e intensidade do trabalho - Síntese

    Autor(es):
    Eurofound
    O quarto Inquérito Europeu sobre as Condições de Trabalho (IECT), levado a cabo em 2005 pela Fundação Europeia para a Melhoria das Condições de Vida e de Trabalho (Eurofound), aborda temas que ocupam um lugar prioritário na agenda política europeia. Um dos temas explorados foi a carga horária e a intensidade da actividade laboral e as suas implicações para a sociedade e o mercado de trabalho no seu conjunto. A investigação debruçouse sobre a natureza da intensidade do trabalho e as formas de a avaliar. Os resultados revelaram uma forte ligação entre um ritmo de trabalho intenso e a existência de más condições laborais, tanto a nível físico como psicológico.
