Occupation is a critical factor in determining the type of working conditions a person will experience during their professional life. This report explores the working conditions of workers – particularly medium-to-low skilled and unskilled – in occupations that are found to have low levels of job quality as measured by four key indicators: earnings, prospects, working time and intrinsic job quality. The knock-on effects of poor job quality and unacceptable working conditions for these workers are significant in terms of psychosocial and physical health, job security, work–life balance, career path and, ultimately, the sustainability of their work. Based on data from the European Working Conditions Survey 2010 and the EU Labour Force Survey 2013, the report presents examples of initiatives, policies and measures across the 28 EU Member States that aim to improve overall working conditions in these disadvantaged occupations.

    Improving working conditions in occupations with multiple disadvantages

    Occupation is a critical factor in determining the type of working conditions a person will experience during their professional life. This report explores the working conditions of workers – particularly medium-to-low skilled and unskilled – in occupations that are found to have low levels of job quality as measured by four key indicators: earnings, prospects, working time and intrinsic job quality.

    Melhorar as condições de trabalho em profissões com desvantagens múltiplas

    Autor(es):
    Eurofound

    Este relatório analisa as condições de trabalho dos trabalhadores - em particular dos trabalhadores com qualificações médias/ baixas ou não qualificados - em profissões consideradas como possuindo níveis baixos de qualidade de emprego, medidos com base em quatro indicadores principais: rendimento, perspetivas, horário de trabalho e qualidade intrínseca do emprego. Os efeitos de arrastamento da má qualidade do emprego e das condições de trabalho inaceitáveis destes trabalhadores são significativos em termos de saúde psicossocial e física, segurança de emprego, equilíbrio entre vida profissional e privada, carreira e, em última análise, em termos de sustentabilidade do seu trabalho. Com base nos dados do Inquérito Europeu sobre as Condições de Trabalho de 2010 e do Inquérito às Forças de Trabalho da UE de 2013, este relatório apresenta exemplos de iniciativas, políticas e medidas desenvolvidas nos 28 Estados-Membros da UE com o objetivo de melhorar as condições gerais de trabalho nessas profissões desfavorecidas.
