France: Companies establish single database for works councils' consultations

Several companies, including Areva, Thales and Carrefour, have concluded agreements to establish the single database containing information of an economic and social nature, as required by the Employment Safeguarding Act of 14 June 2013 (in French). The database comprises all the data due to be sent periodically to the works council, as well as the information necessary for the works council's annual consultation on the establishment's strategic direction and its consequences. The requirement was to be implemented by 14 June 2014 at the latest for establishments with 300 or more employees, and by 14 June 2015 at the latest for businesses having fewer than 300 employees.
