Glovo loses the case in the court of Palermo. Rider hired for an indefinite period (Palermo, Glovo perde la causa in tribunale.Rider assunto a tempo indeterminato)

In October 2020, the Palermo court in Italy ordered Glovo, the delivery company, to reinstate a rider who had been disconnected from Glovo app, as a permanent employee. Glovo will have to pay compensations for this rider and provide a contract with an hourly salary. It is the first time that the full-time and permanent employment relationship of a rider is recognised by an Italian court. This decision has important implications for recognising the rights and protections for these food delivery riders.
