On 19 -21 October 2022, in Dublin, Eurofound will pilot a 'Summer Forum' – a tripartite exchange seminar aiming to improve the capacity of social partners and governments to engage effectively in social dialogue. The Forum addresses national level social partners and in particular early-career professionals in trade union and employer organisations as well as from government departments and other relevant public bodies.

This informal ministerial meeting brought together 27 ministers responsible for employment and social policy. On 14 October, following interventions by the EU Presidency and Nicolas Schmit, EU Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, Eurofound’s Executive Director, Ivailo Kalfin, fed into the discussions drawing on Eurofound’s most recent data with a presentation on the impact of raising energy prices on the social situation of EU Member States.

The pandemic has caused significant economic hardships and exacerbated existing inequalities in our societies. The rising costs of energy, goods, and services as well as Climate change poses an existential threat to humanity.

In the European Year of Youth, five EU Agencies, the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop), the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound), the European Labour Authority (ELA), the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) and the European Training Foundation (ETF), came together to organise a seminar with the Employment Committee of the European Parliament to share their insights and explore the challenges and opportunities for young people in times of uncertainty.

The European Parliament Liaison office in Ireland, the European Commission Representation in Ireland, and the EU Agency Eurofound, invited members of the public to celebrate Europe Day 2022 in Ireland. 2022 is the European Year of Youth and this event reached out to the local community and brought together up to 100 young people aged 16-29, as well as an online audience from around Ireland, to learn, listen and engage on key issues and opportunities for young people in the EU.
