Coverage/Eligibility

The programme is available to all SMEs, except primary production, banking, insurance, associations with public interest (gemeinnützige Vereine), municipalities and companies in difficulties.

Main characteristics

The programme supports the introduction of energy management systems in SMEs with a subsidy of up to €50,000. Eligible for grants are the costs of consulting, training, measurement systems and certifications.  

The costs for advice, certification or training are covered up to 50%; whereas the material investment costs (e.g. measurement technology) are covered up to 30% of the de minimis upper limit. 

Non-eligible costs are:

  • costs that are not related to the creation of energy systems;
  • costs for ongoing and unspecific consulting activities;
  • acquisition or renewal of energy systems;
  • costs for office operational technology such as server, PC, printer, monitors, routers and cabling.

The application must be submitted before the project starts. The deadline for applications is 30 June 2022. The approval process lasts between one and six weeks.

The duration of the project is limited to two years.

Austria Wirtschaftsservice Gesellschaft (aws) is the federal development bank and it is 100% owned by the Republic of Austria. The Federal Ministry for Digitalisation and Business Location (BMDW) and the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) act as owner representatives.
