Covid-19-pandemin fortsatte att vara en avgörande faktor i européernas liv och arbete under 2021, och Eurofound fortsatte sitt arbete med att undersöka och dokumentera de många och varierande effekterna av pandemin i EU:s medlemsstater. Leva och arbeta i Europa 2021 bygger på Eurofounds forskning under samma år och ger en översiktlig bild av hur arbetsmarknaden, arbetsförhållandena och livskvaliteten har förändrats i Europa. I denna årsbok sammanfattas också institutets slutsatser om andra problematiska sociala och ekonomiska aspekter – däribland jämställdhet inom arbetslivet, förmögenhetsklyftor och brist på arbetskraft – som kommer att vara viktiga faktorer för återhämtningen från pandemin, motståndskraften när det gäller kriget i Ukraina och en framgångsrik omställning till en grön och digital framtid. Eurofounds forskning på området arbets- och levnadsvillkor utgör underlag för utformningen av Europas socialpolitik och är kärnan i institutets vision att bli Europas ledande kunskapskälla för bättre levnads- och arbetsvillkor.

Årsboken åtföljs av den konsoliderade årliga verksamhetsrapporten för 2021, som är den formella rapporten om institutets verksamhet, personal och budget – se ”Relaterat innehåll”.
