3rd Annual Convention of the European Platform against Poverty and Social Exclusion
26 - 27 November 2013, Brussels, Belgium
Venue: The Egg conference center, Rue Bara - Barastraat 175, 1070 Bruxelles/Brussel
The European Platform against Poverty and Social Exclusion sets out actions to reduce poverty and social exclusion in Europe. The challenge is now to create further wide-reaching partnerships and momentum to implement the Social Investment Package and increase the level of ambition for achieving the poverty target through reforms in the Member States and to confront the social challenges Europe is facing.
The Convention will also be 'going local' highlighting the essential role played by regional and local authorities in designing and delivering social protection benefits and services.
The first day of the Convention will consist of:
- plenary sessions to take stock of actions at national and European level to implement social policies to reduce poverty and inequalities,
- a speed dating session and a series of side events organised by stakeholders to share their experience and expertise working in the field.
The second day will consist of:
- workshops bringing together policymakers and other participants to discuss the implementation of specific social policy areas, as well as EU instruments to monitor and support these efforts,
- a plenary session bringing together representatives from the local, regional, national and European levels to debate the main themes discussed at the Convention and the priorities for future action.
Eurofound will contribute with an exhibition of the most relevant publications and with presentations by colleagues from the Living Conditions and Quality of Life Unit: Robert Anderson, Head of Unit, will participate in the workshop on access to health and long-term care in times of crisis, while Anna Ludwinek, Research Manager, will be the rapporteur in the plenary session dedicated to youth with complex needs.
