Abstract

This report deals with out-of-school care for children of schoolgoing age (between the ages of five and 12 years) in disadvantaged areas. The provision of such care can facilitate women in entering and remaining in the workforce and make a substantial contribution to children’s welfare. In disadvantaged areas, out-of-school care can contribute to tackling poverty and problem behaviour. An executive summary is available - see Related content.
