Employment and sustainable development: the role of local environmental initiatives in job creation

This report examines three key programmes that demonstrate practical initiatives for ecorenovation designed with the twin objectives of creating jobs and improving the environment. These were presented at a conference on ‘Eco-Renovation - Jobs and the Environment’ held in Copenhagen in September 1995, and were developed to successfully meet these twin objectives through a focus primarily on home renovation - involving action on energy, waste and water - and on industrial greening - providing support for environmental improvements in small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs).
