Employment and sustainable development: the role of local environmental initiatives in job creation
Published: 15 February 2009
This report examines three key programmes that demonstrate practical initiatives for ecorenovation designed with the twin objectives of creating jobs and improving the environment. These were presented at a conference on ‘Eco-Renovation - Jobs and the Environment’ held in Copenhagen in September 1995, and were developed to successfully meet these twin objectives through a focus primarily on home renovation - involving action on energy, waste and water - and on industrial greening - providing support for environmental improvements in small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs).
