A digest final report from a four-year programme of work on employment and sustainability by the Foundation. The work described here is based on two pairs of competing hypotheses selected to reflect the expectations and fears of those in politics and business concerning these issues. It exploits the diversity of approach of European national governments to compare the economic and employment impact of their widely differing environment policies, and hence provides evidence on which to base the choice and design of future policies.
