Health implications for workers in sustainable production and services
Published: 26 August 2012
The report seeks to analyse the health implications inherent for workers in the transition to sustainable production. The concern which motivates companies to make this transition is often enhanced environmental performance rather than improved working conditions or health and safety considerations. As a result, there are occasions when companies involved in so-called sustainable production are actually generating new working conditions risks for their workforce. The report identifies the scope for the closer involvement of the social partners, which could help bring about a better balance between environmental considerations and worker protection in sustainable production initiatives.
