Unions are demanding special retirement provisions for workers employed in jobs associated with high physical demands or psychological stress.

It has been reported in Hungarian newspaper Népszabadság that the government has promised to replace the special early retirement system (in Hungarian) for those doing jobs that place them in difficult or dangerous working environments. The original scheme was abolished in December 2014.

The union confederations involved in the Permanent Consultative Forum of the Competitive Sector and Government (VKF) have prepared a joint proposal as a basis for discussion, asking for a thorough appraisal of the situation of workers with hazardous jobs. The three confederations are the Hungarian Trade Union Confederation (MaSZSZ), the Democratic League of Independent Trade Unions (LIGA) and the National Federation of Workers’ Councils (MOSZ).
