The latest statistics from Statistics Denmark show an overall increase in the number of union members from 2013 to 2014. This is mainly due to a changing labour market and the growth in so-called 'yellow unions', such as KRIFA, Det Faglige Hus and other ideological alternatives to the traditional (red) trade unions. Yellow unions had an increase of 7.9% while most of the classic unions are still seeing a decrease in members. The Danish Confederation of Trade Unions (LO) membership decreased 2.7% and the Confederations of Professionals in Denmark (FTF) saw a decline of 0.3%. The unions for academics and leaders experienced a minor growth in membership.
