Description

The Belfast Education and Library Board is to be asked to approve a package of cuts which would save almost £4 million. The board said there would be a minimum of 110 school redundancies by August 2006. The largest single amount would come out of the special needs budget through redundancies and unit closures.

The targets also include 37 school crossing patrols, a possible rise in the cost of school meals and job losses at the Belfast School of Music. Almost £1 million could be saved through redundancies in the special needs sector as well as the closure of some specialised units.
