Description
Thames Water, the British utility company, has announced plans to create 1,000 new jobs at its sites in London and in the Thames Valley region of England by the end of 2021. Half of the new jobs will be located in London, and 350 will be in Reading, Berkshire. The new positions are in customer service, operations, HR, finance, and innovation.
A representative of the company said people who had become unemployed due to the COVID-19 pandemic are encouraged to apply for the new jobs. The Minister for Employment commented as 'great' the company's support to the 'Plan for Jobs' by recruiting jobseekers among the ones who lost their jobs during the pandemic.
Thames Water is the UK’s largest water and wastewater services company, which provides services to 15 million people. In 2021, the company will also triple its apprenticeship offer, create 50 placements for 16-24-year old unemployed people as part of the government’s Kickstart Scheme, and launch sector work-based academies in partnership with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP).
