Description

Belgian newspaper group ‘De Persgroep’ are to take over Wegener and operate under the new name ‘Persgroep Nederland,’ directly leading to a loss of 275 jobs. These job losses are on top of redundancies that resulted from the internal restructuring of Wegener. The cuts are across the board, both in editing and other departments. The new ‘Persgroep Nederland’ will consist of 11 national and regional news outlets, among these the Volkskrant, Trouw, het Algemeen Dagblad en Het Parool. The new firm employs 2,943 full time employees (of whom 1,400 are editorial staff).
