European Quality of Life Survey 2011 - Fieldwork
Fieldwork for the third European Quality of Life Survey (EQLS) took place from the end of September 2011 to early February 2012 in the 27 European Union Member States and it takes place in seven candidate or pre-accession countries (Croatia, Iceland, FYR Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Serbia and Turkey) in May-July 2012.
The questionnaire, which comprises the same questions which were asked in previous waves and new questions, examines a range of issues such as employment, income, housing and living conditions, family, health, work-life balance, life satisfaction and perceived quality of society. It was translated from English and will be available in 37 national adaptations when fieldwork is completed.
Respondents are selected randomly for a face-to-face interview and the sample size ranges from 1,000 to 3,000 depending on the country’s population size. By the time the fieldwork is completed in all 34 countries, over 42,500 people will have been interviewed. Eurofound has worked closely with its contractor GfK EU3C in Belgium to ensure that the highest quality standards were met when preparing and implementing the third EQLS.
It is expected that the overview report analysing the third EQLS data will be published by Eurofound by the end of 2012 and further reports on subjective well-being, social inequalities, quality of society and public services, and trends in quality of life over the three survey waves will follow in 2013.
It is expected that the dataset will be made available to the public through the UK Data Archive in spring 2013.
