Workshop on employment initiatives for an ageing workforce - 20 June 2006, Vienna, Austria
The Foundation is holding this workshop as part of the Austrian Presidency conference Young and old in a changing Europe: the demographic challenge to social care and health, Vienna, 19-21 June 2006. As an organising partner with the European Social Network, the Foundation will also contribute to the conference with a plenary presentation on Meeting the demographic challenges of job creation, competitiveness and quality of life, and a second workshop on Developments in ‘out-of-school’ childcare across the EU.
Objectives of the workshop
The Foundation has recently published a new database of employment initiatives for an ageing workforce, which documents 130 case studies and contains examples of best practice initiatives taken to reverse trends for early retirement and exit from the labour market towards the retention, reintegration and retraining of older workers. Examples are from EU member and new member states, Romania and Bulgaria and cover large and smaller enterprises in public and private sectors. Case studies from two countries will be presented and debated by coordinators of the recent research in both member and new member states.
