Eurofoundand Cedefop, in collaboration with the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA), is hosting an online conference on workplace practices that can help to unlock employee skills and knowledge.

Firms differ in the ways they organise the workplace and productivity differences between establishments have been linked to managerial practices and types of workplace settings (high-performance workplaces). The bundles of workplace practices adopted by establishments can also affect the quality of the work environment and the well-being of employees. Depending on their managerial strategy and the workplace practices, establishments have different success in leveraging the skills of their workforce.

The aim of this online conference is to bring together researchers studying organisational issues from an international comparative perspective. The event will be a key opportunity to gain better insight into what the European Company Survey (ECS) 2019 data, as well as other data sources, can tell us about the practices that companies put in place to make best use of the skills and knowledge of their workers.

Two keynote lectures will be delivered by Professor Kathryn Shaw (Stanford University and IZA) and Professor Christopher Warhurst (University of Warwick).

To access the livestream of the conference, see:

Eurofound and Cedefop will present the new findings of the ECS 2019 overview report on 13 October 2020 at an online event.
