Skills for jobs
Under the banner of the 2023 European Year of Skills, Eurofound and the EC Representation office in Ireland joined forces to run a half-day in-person event on skills. Time: 10.00 – 12.30 Irish time, followed by a light lunch (Registration from 09.30 with light refreshments).

Event background
The event was opened by Barbara Nolan, Head of the European Commission Representation in Ireland.
Simon Harris T.D., Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science delivered the opening address followed by remarks from Ivailo Kalfin, Eurofound Executive Director.
Based around a presentation of Eurofound’s latest research findings on skills by Franz Eiffe, Research manager at Eurofound, the event was an opportunity to explore current skills and labour shortages, and trends across public and private sectors and discuss the challenges that Ireland and other EU countries currently face.

The event was moderated by Mary McCaughey, Head of Information and Communication in Eurofound.
A panel discussion was followed by a Q&A session with participants.
The in-person event brought together 65 Irish and EU policymakers, social partners, civil society, experts, national and regional government representatives.
