Employment Week 2010 will provide a forum for organisations across all member states, and beyond, to demonstrate the initiatives and projects they are running to improve employment conditions in their region. The conference will focus on some of the key drivers for recovery. Presentations from speakers from the Commission, from a range of NGOs, corporates and other bodies will open up the debate on these crucial issues.
The 2010 conference programme was developed in cooperation with DG Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities and will provide an update on latest policy developments. Eurofound will be contributing to the programme of events with:

Publicly subsidised short-time working schemes have been used extensively to cope with the recession. They are a prime example of how the state, employers and workers can share the burden of a recession. **It is vital to explore every facet of poverty and social exclusion in order to improve the chances of our potential workforce. As the types of employment contract become more numerous, so our perceptions of security change. Our policy makers must acknowledge these perceptions and build policies to overcome poverty and social exclusion.
