The Greek Presidency of the European Union is hosting the EU Youth Conference on social inclusion of young people, organised in cooperation with the European Youth Forum and with the support of the European Commission.

Eurofound will be represented at the event, which takes place in Thessaloniki, the European Youth Capital for 2014, on 10–12 March 2014. The event brings together around 250 participants from National Youth Councils (NYCs) and Directorates-General for Youth from the EU, candidate countries and EFTA (European Free Trade Alliance) States, as well as from International Non-Governmental Youth Organisations (INGYOs), the European Youth Forum and the European Commission.

The EU Youth Conference, which follows those held under the Irish and Lithuanian Presidencies, is one of the milestones of the structured dialogue process and represents a forum for continuous joint reflection on the priorities, implementation and follow-up of European cooperation in the youth field.

During the EU Youth Conference, policy actions recommendations for the social inclusion of all young people will be jointly discussed, including a particular focus on youth entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship. For this purpose, participants will be invited to use the results of the discussion currently ongoing in EU Member States on the same topic, in the framework of structured dialogue.

The conclusions will contribute to the content the EU Council Resolution regarding structured dialogue on social inclusion, expected to be adopted by Youth Ministers in May 2014. Moreover, part of the results from the EU Youth Conference will feed into the Council Conclusions on entrepreneurship of young people that are promoted by the Greek Presidency in the Council of the European Union.
