Event background

The Foundation for International Studies on Social Security (FISS) is organising its 24th International Conference to be held on 19-21 June 2016 at the Sigtunahöjden conference centre in Sigtuna, Sweden.

Objectives

This year’s conference will provide an opportunity to reflect on how trends in globalisation, demographic transitions and the impact of financial and other crises are raising challenges for the role and objectives of social protection systems. What are their primary goals, how should they be achieved and what are their impacts on poverty, employment, social mobility and inequality? The conference will provide a forum for researchers and policy makers to come together to discuss these and other issues related to the design, financing, delivery and impact of social security provisions, broadly defined to include health care systems.

Eurofound contribution

Hans Dubois, Research manager in the Living Conditions and Quality of Life unit, will present Eurofound research projects on Access to benefits in times if crisis and Extending working lives through flexible retirement schemes.
