Event background

EMCC company network seminar, 28-29 June 2006, Berlin, Germany

The European Monitoring Centre on Change (EMCC) company network seminars bring together all actors involved in change, in particular those at company level: managers, trade unions and the workforce. The aim is to share their 'hands-on experience' from different sectors and EU countries, and to draw lessons from an in-depth exploration of the company cases presented.

How to succeed as SMEs in the internal market: innovation strategies for cross-border business’ is the theme of the next EMCC company network seminar to be organised in cooperation with BDA (Confederation of German Employers’ Associations). The seminar will examine the challenges faced by SMEs when operating across European borders and the role that innovation plays in facilitating this process.

The seminar will set out to examine the strategies developed by SMEs which allow them to go from being local/national organisations to becoming international players. The role played by innovation, in the broadest sense of the word, will be analysed so as to explore whether a link can be established between both issues.

Four companies from different European countries will be invited to present their practices at the event, therefore allowing for a comparison of approaches and practices.
