Event background

EMCC company network seminar, 9-10 November 2006, Thessaloniki, Greece

The European Monitoring Centre on Change (EMCC) company network seminars bring together all actors involved in change, in particular those at company level: managers, trade unions and the workforce. The aim is to share their 'hands-on experience' from different sectors and EU countries, and to draw lessons from an in-depth exploration of the company cases presented.

'The role of competence and qualification development in fostering workforce mobility' is the theme of the next EMCC company network seminar to be organised in cooperation with the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop), on 9-10 November in Thessaloniki.

The seminar will look at the need for a better recognition of qualifications across the EU, and the need for companies to invest in lifelong learning schemes for employees, to boost occupational workforce mobility in sectors and in enterprises. The case studies presented will illustrate different approaches to company training policies.

The event will contribute to the activities of the European Year of Workers' Mobility 2006.

More information is available from the EMCC website.
