Background of the project

In 2006, the Foundation in carrying out a project on social dialogue capacity building at sectoral and company level in the new EU Member States, the accession countries (Bulgaria, Romania), and the candidate countries (Croatia,Turkey). This project is built on the results and experiences of the 2005 project on National social dialogue capacity building.

Objectives

The objective of the project is to help the EU10 Member States, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia and Turkey in building social dialogue capacity by gathering social partners, government representatives and researchers to investigate organisational, financial and skills capacities to engage in sectoral and local level social dialogue.

Participants

Participating countries are Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania and Turkey. Invited participants are representatives of employers’ central organisations, trade union central organisations and governments. National experts from each country will present the national reports:

  • Bulgaria:Elina Skarby, Balkan Institute for Labour and Social Policy

  • Romania:Luminita Nicolescu, Manager Institute

  • Croatia: Prof. Zeljko Potocnjak and Victor Gotovac, University of Law, Zagreb

  • Turkey:Prof. M. Kemal Ōke, Abant University, Bolu, Turkey
