Event background

COFACE and Eurofound are organising a joint roundtable about two-generation Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) programmes on 23 September 2015 (9:00-13:00).

Even though childcare provision is central to many policies such as child welfare, education, and social and employment policies, it is still far from getting the attention it deserves. As very few data and evidence are available on whether the impacts on children and families are stronger than those of single-generation programmes, we aim to further the discourse and gather evidence.

To further the discourse and provide alternative examples of childcare, the two-generation programmes that consider high-quality early childhood education centres and 'crèches' as platforms for attracting parents into education and training, will be highlighted and discussed.

Eurofound contribution

Daniel Molinuevo, research officer with the Living Condition and Quality of Life unit, will introduce Eurofound’s new report on ECEC during the roundtable discussion.

A programme and background material are available on the COFACE website.
