Objectives

This seminar is organised to discuss and define the future orientations of the Foundation project Working conditions and social dialogue, that seeks to explore the nature of links between working conditions and social dialogue, in particular at workplace level, and to answer the following questions:

  • do working conditions differ on the basis of the presence or absence of social dialogue structures?

  • how does social dialogue influence working conditions?

It builds on the considerable body of existing work from the Foundation’s observatories such as the EIRO national industrial relations profiles for individual countries and the EWCO reports on the findings of national working conditions surveys. In 2008, the project will be extended and the relationships between working conditions and social dialogue will be investigated based on a combination of research methods which will include analysis of existing surveys (where available) as well as case studies at company and sectoral level.
