This conference is organised by net4society, the network of National Contact Points of the Socio-Economic Sciences and Humanities area (SSH) of the EU's 7th Framework Programme. The event is sponsored by the European Commission and is linked to the 2012 European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between generations and is an official satellite event of the Euroscience Open Forum (ESOF).
Objectives
This international conference will showcase a positive approach to ageing and its potential for society, presenting international SSH research in this field and identifying future research needs. In addition, it will promote and encourage engagement with FP7 SSH research programmes through a brokerage event that will form part of the conference programme.
Key note speakers include Anne-Sophie Parent, Director of the AGE network and Lenia Samuel from the European Commission’s Year for Active Ageing initiative.
Thematic sessions will be based on four key topics:
Employment
Social participation
Intergenerational solidarity
Economy and innovation
The event is targeted at researchers, policy makers and stakeholders of the international SSH community. Participation is free of charge.
Eurofound contribution
Robert Anderson will contribute to the parallel session on Employment on Tuesday 10 July from 11.00 - 12.30, and Klara Foti will chair the session on Social participation. Both will also be participating in the afternoon sessions on Employment and Social participation from 13.30 - 15.30 on the same day.
