Under the Finnish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health is organising a high-level event to highlight the 'Economy of well-being' approach, which examines the two-way relationship between well-being and the economy.

Event background

Under the Finnish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health is holding a 'High-level conference to highlight the 'Economy of well-being' and examine the two-way relationship between well-being and the economy.

The conference aims to generate cross-sectoral dialogue on various themes for use in the forthcoming Council conclusions on the 'Economy of well-being'.

Tadas Leončikas, Research Manager at Eurofound’s Social policies unit has prepared a background paper for the conference on the 'Role of health and care services in improving well-being and economic performance: Perspectives from the European Quality of Life Survey'. Eurofound’s paper is also available on the Presidency website alongside background material from the OECD and the Finnish Presidency’s draft Council conclusions on the Economy of wellbeing. Tadas will take part in the conference as a panellist in the session: 'Managing resources in changing environments and society'.
