Background

With over 60,000 responses, the first results of Eurofound’s online survey Living, Working and COVID-19, carried out in April 2020, showed a Europe grappling to respond to the crisis caused by the pandemic, with many respondents reporting low levels of optimism about their future, job and contract loss, and a spike in financial insecurity. A second wave of the survey has been launched and will delve deeper and aim to capture how lives have changed over time – particularly for those most impacted, such as the self-employed. Across Europe, policymakers – including governments, support institutions, social partners and other social actors – have moved swiftly to mitigate the social and economic effects of the pandemic, introducing measures to cushion the social and economic effects on businesses, workers and citizens. Eurofound’s COVID-19 EU PolicyWatch database aims to map these measures.

Webinar

Moderated by the EU Open Data Portal, participants joined Eurofound’s Daphne Ahrendt, Senior Research Manager and Tina Weber, Research Manager LIVE to find out how they ran the survey and mapped the policy measures, as well as hearing what the data tells us about the immediate impact of COVID-19 on living and working in Europe and the policies to address these new challenges. Daphne and Tina took the participants questions and comments via LIVE chat.
