Eurofound welcomed a delegation from the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) today to discuss latest research and developments on working conditions, minimum wages, employment, labour shortages, and housing, as well as synergies and communication opportunities.
ICTU were represented by recently appointed Secretary General Owen Reidy, Equality Officer David Joyce, and Social Policy and Legislative Officer Ger Gibbons. Mr Joyce is also a member of Eurofound’s Management Board, and Mr Gibbons is an alternate member. They met with Eurofound Executive Director Ivailo Kalfin, Deputy Director Maria Jepsen, and senior staff.
Speaking on the conclusion of the meeting, Ivailo Kalfin emphasised the importance of close cooperation with social partners at a time of ongoing labour market and social change in Europe:
‘This was a very fruitful and constructive exchange with ICTU, particularly in relation to job quality and improving the situation of young people in Europe. I look forward to continuing the dialogue and deepening cooperation in the future.’
