Visit of EU Heads of Mission in Ireland to Eurofound – Tuesday, 28 September 2021
Eurofound in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Ireland in the framework of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union organised a visit of the EU Heads of Mission in Ireland to Eurofound.
The occasion marked the start of the mandate of Eurofound’s Executive Director, Ivailo Kalfin, and provided the opportunity for a presentation on ‘Living and working in Europe: Current research findings and priorities of Eurofound’.
The welcome addresses were delivered by H.E. Stanislav Vidovič, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Ireland, and Eurofound’s Ivailo Kalfin.
Eurofound experts shared priorities for the next four years, detailed in the Programming Document 2021-2024: Towards recovery and resilience. They also shared the highlights of online surveys, such as Living, working and COVID-19, which revealed how trust in the EU fell dramatically in the early days of the crisis, and also showed that citizens look first to their national governments in times of crisis.
The event drew together the Ambassadors of EU Member States in Ireland, Heads of the Representation of the European Commission and the European Parliament in Ireland, as well as representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Eurofound’s Management Board.
