Foundation seminar series: Towards a sustainable and flexible work organisation, 2005

As Europe asserts in the Lisbon agenda, achieving the right balance between flexibility and security will help to support the competitiveness of firms, increase quality and productivity at work and facilitate adaptation of firms and workers to economic change.

Objectives

The main objective of the seminar was to raise awareness of European social policy issues amongst representatives of public authorities and the social partners at national level. The theme is high on many national policy agenda and at European level. Given its complexity, this seminar focused solely on 'internal flexibility', studying case examples of flexibility on time and on work organisation.
