This document summarises the findings of a research report from the European Foundation for the Improvement and Living Conditions (EF03108), drawing on the results of Eurobarometer surveys carried out in the EU and the 13 acceding and candidate countries. Examining quality of life in 28 European countries, the report provides an analysis of the views and experiences of the citizens of the new Europe on selected aspects of living conditions, such as social exclusion and poverty, the relationship between quality of life and quality of work, fertility, migration and mobility, satisfaction with quality of life, and health and health care.

Life satisfaction in an enlarged Europe (report)

Examining quality of life in 28 European countries, including the acceding and candidate countries as well as the current Member States of the EU, this report explores how people across Europe define quality of life. It looks at how they evaluate their lives and certain living conditions, what would increase their satisfaction, and how these evaluations can be explained by personal resources and/or the individual’s position in the social structure. The analysis is based on data from the European Commission’s Eurobarometer survey carried out in the acceding and candidate countries in Spring 2002 and standard EU 15 Eurobarometers.
