Conference on the future for employment in social care in Europe, 2-3 October 2006, Helsinki, Finland
New The future for employment in social care in Europe: Conference report (2007)
This conference will be organised by the Foundation in cooperation with the National Research and Development Centre for Welfare and Health (STAKES) and the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health (FIOH) during the Finnish Presidency of the EU. This event will address how labour supply in care services can be improved to meet the increasing demand of an ageing population.
Objectives
The aim of the conference is to identify key strategies for the creation of quality jobs in social care through debate among practitioners, researchers and policy-makers. Three main workshops will examine:
Working conditions - Improving working conditions and qualifications of care workers (non-medical staff providing support in the community)
Diversity - Improving gender and age balance; increasing number of migrant workers
Work-life balance - Improving work-life balance for care workers.
