As part of its #BrusselsBriefings series, Eurofound is hosting an off-the-record session dedicated to its latest research on mental health. The briefing takes place on Tuesday 9 December 2025 from 10:00 to 12:00 CET.

Event background
Eurofound expert Hans Dubois presents recent findings drawing comparative data, exploring how crises such as the Great Recession and COVID-19 have shaped mental-health outcomes, how different risk groups are evolving, and why social and economic conditions remain central drivers of poor mental health.
The briefing also addresses worrying recent trends, including a stalling of the decline in suicide deaths and recent increases especially among youngest and oldest age groups, and the increasing or continued strain on Europe’s mental-health systems regardless of increased capacity. Participants will gain insights into what works, where gaps persist, and how policy can strengthen prevention, inclusion and access to trustworthy, person-centred support.
This off-the-record event gives stakeholders an opportunity to engage directly with Eurofound’s expert on the most recent data and analysis. After the opening and a short presentation, the schedule will include a Q&A and an exchange of ideas with the audience.

Prieš pradėdama dirbti Komisijos atstovo spaudai, ji buvo Užimtumo generalinio direktorato atstovė spaudai (2005–2007 m.) ir Komisijos nario ir generalinio direktoriaus kalbų rašytoja (2003–2005 m.). Prieš pradėdama dirbti Komisijoje, ji dirbo RTÉ radijuje ir televizijoje (Airijos nacionalinėje televizijoje) Briuselyje gamybos asistente ir tyrėja, o vėliau – naujienų prodiusere. Cristina yra baigusi taikomųjų kalbų studijas Ulsterio universitete Coleraine, Šiaurės Airijoje.

Senior research managerHans Dubois yra EUROFOUND Socialinės politikos skyriaus vyresnysis tyrimų vadovas. Jo tyrimų temos apima būstą, pernelyg didelį įsiskolinimą, sveikatos priežiūrą, ilgalaikę priežiūrą, socialines išmokas, išėjimą į pensiją ir gyvenimo kokybę vietinėje vietovėje. Prieš prisijungdamas prie Eurofound, jis buvo Kozminskio universiteto (Varšuva) docentas. Jis baigė verslo administravimo ir vadybos daktaro laipsnį Bocconi universitete (Milanas), po to, kai dirbo mokslinių tyrimų pareigūnu Europos sveikatos sistemų ir politikos observatorijoje (Madridas).
