Event background
Economic growth for better quality of life in Europe, 14 September 2010, Brussels, Belgium
A sustainable high-level quality of life and well-being for all members of society is the ultimate goal of public policy. However, attention is currently focused on fostering economic growth and the creation of more jobs. As Europe emerges from a deep recession, this must be a priority, and this is indeed reflected in the Europe2020 strategy. But will this be enough to achieve better quality of life and more well-being in the longer run?
This conference seeks to develop a better understanding of the measures that can improve quality of life for Europe's population. New surveys, such as the European Quality of Life Surveys conducted by Eurofound provide valuable evidence, including trends that can contribute to better policy design.
The conference is organised jointly by Eurofound, the European Commission's DG Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities and the European Policy Centre (EPC).
