The European Commission is organising a high-level conference on social policy innovation in Brussels on 19-20 May 2014. The event will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and participants include EU and national decision-makers, stakeholders from the public and private sectors, civil society organisations, leading experts and researchers.
The conference will focus on the role of social policy innovation and social investment in implementing structural reforms at country level and delivering on the Europe 2020 objectives.
The conference will report on the experiences of the recent past and examine more in depth how EU countries will be best supported for social policy innovation and social policy experimentation through the new Programme for Employment and Social Innovation (EaSI).
The event will also analyse how EU countries are starting to put in practice the priority given to social policy innovation in the new programming period of the European Structural and Investment (ESI) Funds, in particular the European Social Fund.
Commissioner László Andor will open the conference. Eurofound will be represented by Klára Fóti, Research Manager in the Living Conditions and Quality of Life Unit.
The Award Ceremony of the Second European Social Innovation Competition will be held in the afternoon of 20 May 2014.
