  • Unatoč tome što su u mnogim zemljama brzo uvedene mjere za potporu onima koji su izgubili posao, više od polovine nezaposlenih ispitanika nije primilo nikakvu službenu financijsku potporu od izbijanja pandemije bolesti COVID-19, zbog čega su mnogi bili prisiljeni uvelike se oslanjati na neslužbenu potporu. Broj osoba koje su izjavile da teško spajaju kraj s krajem bio je najveći među ispitanicima koji su nezaposleni, a u srpnju taj je broj bio dvostruko veći od broja kućanstava čiji su članovi zaposleni.
  • Pokazalo se da su mladi ljudi jedna od skupina najviše pogođenih uvođenjem zabrane kretanja te su, zajedno s nezaposlenim ispitanicima, izvijestili o najnižoj razini dobrobiti, unatoč određenom poboljšanju u odnosu na početak pandemije. Iako su se razina zadovoljstva životom i razina optimizma povećale u odnosu na travanj, mladi se i dalje osjećaju isključenima iz društva te su i dalje izloženi najvećem riziku od depresije, iz čega se može zaključiti da su ograničenja uvedena tijekom zabrane kretanja na njih imala veći utjecaj.
  • Žene su i dalje suočavaju s nesrazmjernim učinkom te su i dalje manje optimistične u pogledu svoje budućnosti od muškaraca. Ta se razlika dodatno povećala u razdoblju od travnja do srpnja. Pandemija je utjecala i na ravnotežu između poslovnog i privatnog života žena više nego na onu muškaraca, pri čemu je na žene više utjecala mjera skraćenog radnog vremena te su mlade žene češće gubile posao od mladih muškaraca. Konkretno, teret odgovornosti žena u pogledu skrbi povećao se tijekom pandemije.
  • Razina povjerenja u EU povećala se u srpnju, dok se razina povjerenja u nacionalne vlade smanjila. Najveće povećanje zabilježeno je u Italiji i Španjolskoj, zemljama koje su teško pogođene pandemijom. Razina povjerenja u nacionalne vlade i EU znatno je veća među građanima EU-a koji su tijekom pandemije primali financijsku potporu.

This report presents the findings of the Living, working and COVID-19 e-survey, carried out by Eurofound to capture the far-reaching implications of the pandemic for the way people live and work across Europe. The survey was fielded online, among respondents who were reached via Eurofound’s stakeholders and social media advertising. Two rounds of the e-survey have been carried out to date: one in April, when most Member States were in lockdown, and one in July, when society and economies were slowly re-opening.

The findings of the e-survey from the first round reflected widespread emotional distress, financial concern and low levels of trust in institutions. Levels of concern abated somewhat in the second round, particularly among groups of respondents who were benefiting from support measures implemented during the pandemic. At the same time, the results underline stark differences between countries and between socioeconomic groups that point to growing inequalities.

The results confirm the upsurge in teleworking across all countries during the COVID-19 pandemic that has been documented elsewhere, and the report explores what this means for work–life balance and elements of job quality.

    Eurofound’s work on COVID-19 examines the far-reaching socioeconomic implications of the pandemic across Europe as they continue to impact living and working conditions. A key element of the research is the e-survey, conducted in three rounds – in April and July 2020 and in March 2021. This is complemented by the inclusion of research into the ongoing effects of the pandemic in much of Eurofound’s other areas of work.
