This event took place in the context of Eurofound’s ongoing efforts with key stakeholders at the national level to ensure widespread dissemination and dialogue on our research findings. 

Event overview

Slovenia does not conduct its own national survey on working conditions but uses the European Working Conditions Survey to monitor job quality and working life in Slovenia. This makes the findings of the European Working Conditions Survey 2024 (EWCS) particularly valuable for Slovenian stakeholders.

In 2024, the Slovenian Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities increased the sample size of the EWCS from 1,000 to 1,300 interviews to obtain a more granular, national dataset. This step enhances the capacity to identify challenges and opportunities which will help to further improve working conditions for employees and self-employed men and women. Eurofound’s virtual visit created an opportunity to explore results for Slovenia and compare them with EU-wide averages and developments in other countries. 

Eurofound has been monitoring progress in working conditions across Europe for over 30 years through the EWCS. The survey provides a comprehensive picture of the everyday reality of men and women at work, assessing job quality, analysing risks and opportunities, thus providing both EU and national policymakers with the evidence required to design effective policies.

The latest findings shed light on issues around workers’ health and well-being, work-life balance, the impact of technology use at work, gender equality as well as the implications of an ageing workforce and the twin transitions.

This event took place in collaboration with Eurofound’s Slovenian Board Members and with its national correspondent in Slovenia.

Agnès Parent-Thirion

Agnès Parent-Thirion è senior research manager presso l'unità Working Life di Eurofound, incaricata della pianificazione, dello sviluppo e dell'attuazione di progetti di ricerca sulle condizioni di lavoro, in particolare l'indagine europea sulle condizioni di lavoro (EWCS) e le relative analisi. È responsabile dell'edizione straordinaria dell'EWCS 2021 e della preparazione del questionario per l'EWCS 2024. I suoi interessi di ricerca includono le condizioni di lavoro, la qualità del lavoro, il monitoraggio delle condizioni di lavoro, l'organizzazione del lavoro, il genere, il futuro del lavoro e il tempo. Ha lavorato nel settore delle indagini comparative europee per più di un decennio, in tutti gli aspetti, tra cui la progettazione, lo sviluppo di questionari, il lavoro sul campo, il controllo di qualità e l'analisi. Si è laureata in Economia e Management presso le università Paris IX Dauphine e Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne e ha conseguito un diploma post-laurea in Statistica presso il Trinity College di Dublino. Di recente ha completato corsi online sull'intelligenza artificiale: inquiry-driven leadership con MIT Sloan Executive Education e "Les grand enjeux de la transition: re-ouvrir l'horizon, comprendre pour agir" con il Campus de la Transition. Prima di entrare a far parte di Eurofound, ha lavorato per diversi anni presso la Commissione europea.

Jorge Cabrita

Senior research manager
Working life research unit

Jorge Cabrita is a senior research manager in the Working Life unit. He is responsible for formulating, coordinating and managing European-wide research, and promoting the dissemination of findings in the areas of working conditions and industrial relations. His main research areas of interest include working conditions and job quality, working time and work–life balance, workers’ health and well-being, gender equality and the socioeconomic impacts of the transition to a climate-neutral economy. He is currently leading research on working time developments and on social dialogue and collective bargaining during the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, he worked as a researcher at the Centre for Studies for Social Intervention and at the Research Centre on the Portuguese Economy of the Lisbon School of Economics, and as a trainer and consultant in the areas of strategic management, organisational communication, leadership and team building. He holds a BSc in Economics and an MSc in Socio-Organisational Systems of Economic Activity from the Lisbon School of Economics.

Maria Jepsen

Deputy Director
Eurofound

Maria Jepsen è vicedirettrice di Eurofound, nominata il 1° novembre 2019. Coordina lo sviluppo del programma dell'Agenzia. In precedenza, è stata direttrice del dipartimento di ricerca presso l'Istituto sindacale europeo (ETUI) e assistente e ricercatrice presso la Libera Università di Bruxelles (ULB). Attualmente è anche professore associato di economia del lavoro presso l'ULB e docente esterno presso il Collegio d'Europa di Bruges, in Belgio. I suoi principali interessi di ricerca includono gli studi di genere, l'impatto dello stato sociale sull'offerta di lavoro, sui salari e sulle condizioni di lavoro e lo sviluppo della dimensione sociale europea. È stata membro di vari comitati, consigli e comitati consultivi a livello nazionale e internazionale su questioni relative all'occupazione, sociali, di genere e alla ricerca. È stata anche coordinatrice del comitato consultivo tripartito della Commissione europea per la salute e la sicurezza sul lavoro. Ha conseguito un dottorato di ricerca in Economia e un Master in Econometria presso la Libera Università di Bruxelles (ULB).
