Per 10 metų nuo 2014 iki 2024 m. socialinių paslaugų darbuotojų skaičius ES padidėjo nuo 8 iki 10 milijonų. Dabar jie sudaro 5 proc. visos ES darbo jėgos. Be to, šiame sektoriuje trūksta darbo jėgos, o darbo užmokestis tebėra mažas – maždaug 20 proc. mažesnis už vidutinį darbo užmokestį visose valstybių narių ekonomikose.
