In den 10 Jahren von 2014 bis 2024 ist die Zahl der Beschäftigten im Sozialdienst in der EU von 8 Millionen auf 10 Millionen gestiegen. Sie machen nun 5 % der gesamten Erwerbsbevölkerung in der EU aus. Gleichzeitig ist der Sektor mit einem Arbeitskräftemangel konfrontiert und nach wie vor durch niedrige Löhne gekennzeichnet – rund 20 % weniger als der Durchschnittslohn in den Volkswirtschaften der Mitgliedstaaten insgesamt.
