Au cours des 10 années qui ont suivi, de 2014 à 2024, le nombre de travailleurs des services sociaux dans l’UE est passé de 8 millions à 10 millions. Ils représentent aujourd’hui 5 % de la main-d’œuvre totale de l’UE. Dans le même temps, le secteur est confronté à des pénuries de main-d’œuvre et continue d’être caractérisé par de faibles salaires, soit environ 20 % de moins que le salaire moyen dans l’ensemble des économies des États membres.
